Hello, Chicken Hatching Friends!

Happy New Year!
I recently purchased my first Hova-Bator (used, of course), a 1583 forced air with the heating wafer. I have a thermostat/humidity reader in it to gauge the temp. It seems to vary just over .5 degrees every couple of minutes. It goes from about 99.4 up to 100.14. My question is whether that is a good range. Should I set the starting temp lower so it does not go up as high? Is such a range (over just a few minutes) normal? I've hatched plenty of eggs, but only used Brinsea (or broody hens) in the past, which are so easy. But I need more space than my Brinsea allow, so I got this Hova-Bator based on so many of these BYC suggestions.

thoughts?

Thanks and happy hatching in 2019!
