I just bought a hova bator 1588 off of ebay. It's in great condition. I'll be putting quail eggs in it next week and wondering about how accurate the thermostat is when it's factory set. The directions say it is set to 100 degrees F. Is there a way to calibrate it? The directions also say to try a hatch to see if it's accurate and if it's not to adjust afterward. Can't I avoid loss by checking how accurate the thing is beforehand?

we have a hova bator too, the polystyrene one, there should be what looks like an alan key and a wingnut on it, thats how we change the temp but i find of all the incubators ive used, this one has a tendency to fluctuate in temp way more than others, needs an eye kept on it always because it tends to run hot! we got ours from ebay too!
