So I have the new fully "automatic" (preset) bater w/ egg turner, which is supposed to be exactly 100o.

So far it has never reached exactly 100, rather it varies from 100.5 to 100.8 so is that ok? or should I try and adjust it? There are NO explicit instructions on this that came with the bator.

Do you just push and hold the ^ button for a second or two?

Do I need to do that or is just a hair under 100 ok? I live in South Texas.... we don't have cold temp problems here!

regards,m

I have the older 1588 without the digital display, and am setting my first eggs in it this afternoon... mine has been fairly stable although I have 4 or 5 different thermometers and they all have slightly different readings... (doh!) I think the manufacturer feels very strongly that the thermostats are very precise and you shouldn't fiddle with the setting for the first couple of hatches- if you get early or late hatching results, then adjust accordingly for the next group... Sorry, can't help with how to adjust, it's definitely easier than the model I have with all the toggle switches to fiddle with! Good luck!

Do you have an auto turner in there that's on? Mine holds temps perfectly until I turn on the turner, then shoots up about half a degree.

Do you have a couple calibrated thermometers in there? If so, what do they say the temps are at egg level?

That's interesting, I hadn't thought about that myself... I'm doing my first set of eggs myself, and noticed that in my trial runs the temps were reading slightly lower than they are now with everything inside and running. Guess it makes sense that the motor would put off a tiny bit of heat... Thanks for point that out!

My first hatch, I didn't mess with anything and they were late hatchers.[hovered 99.6, set 100] So I increased this hatch temp .1 degrees and the temp, with the turner, is hovering 99.8, set 100.1. I have more eggs in this time as well.

I have the full compliment of 41 eggs, and an auto turner. I think I'll bump it 1/2 a degree but, how do you do that?
