Hovabator 1588 with egg turner question before I start

Thank you for your input. Basically what I am learning is it is both an exact science and an inexact science all at the same time! I have unplugged, plugged, increased water, covered water up. I'm on day 2 of incubation now and am going to say a pray and leave it alone till day 18. Thanks to everyone for sharing your sage advice. Much appreciated.
 
but if this was the only hygrometer I owned how would I calibrate it as it is attached to the incubator itself?
Well, you probably can't, unless it's removable like my Incuview's is...
...best to get another one so you can test/calibrate it then compare it to the built in one.

Yup, that's what I thought. I actually have two independent and calibrated hygros in my bator at all times but I think it sure would be nice if the cheaper bators came with moderately reliable instruments. There would be a lot less failed hatches.
