hovabator 2362-N PLEASE HELP

I just ran out and bought this at the local feed store. My choices were very limited and I was in a bind as my broody hen stopped being broody and didn't want the eggs to ruin. Can someone tell me exactly where the thermostat is to be placed ? I have it together and plugged up, but haven't put eggs in yet. Have them in bowl under warm towel, hope they make it. and should I put something on top of the wire bottom or just put the eggs right on top? I didn't get the egg turner as I only have 10 eggs. HELP!!!!!
