Got her all fixed up. Now the fan runs all the time. Now I just have to let the monster stabilize again

the fan needs to run constantly. Probably you have one of those do it yourself jobs that is wired wrong. Hopefully you or someone in your family can fix it quick. I got one like that at an auction and hubby fixed it for me

Im hoping I'm not jumping in on too old of a thread. I'm having the exact same problem with my Hovabator except it's model 1602N. I'm wondering if my fan is supposed to run constantly because it only turns on when the heating element turns on. The fan is factory installed but it also has the very noisy shut down so I will try oiling the bearings
