Hovabator Help

I posted a question on the incubating tips topic yesterday! And I just want to thank everyone for NOT responding. You guys are a great help.

First of all, BYC has been a great source of info and help for lots of people. Secondly, if you use the little search bar on the top right hand corner you will find loads of info on incubating eggs! Most people wont give specifics on temp and humidity because they dont want you to come back later and blame them for a bad hatch rate. I suggest you do some research ( as I did)! Just reading through some of the old threads I answered alot of my own questions! Now what was your question? Maybe I can help! I also use a hovabator!

I was smart enough to sell my Sportsman incubator to buy a Brinsea, and now Brinsea is out of stock! So I have had to start up my Hovabator. Now I have an all-in-one temp/humidity gage in there. What should my humidity gage read? I have it at 70. Is this right? Sorry, just really could use the help as it is only my second year incubating.

I saw your post however I know nothing about incubating duck eggs so I'm sorry I can't help you there.

I also saw that you added your question onto another post ~ perhaps if you started your own post with this question you might get more help.​

I've already found the info's I need! I was just surprised that I hadn't received any feedback at all! Other forums and an APA judge gave me the info's I required. I was just hoping that people here would have been helpful. Oh well!

I see by the number of posts that you are probably fairly new to this site. Please don't take this as if I am getting on you or chewing you out. I'm trying to help.

You put your question on the end of a thread that was about a month old. Instead of doing that, you would probably do better starting your own thread.

Since the topic of that old thread was ducks, I'm guessing your question was on ducks, not chicken eggs. There are some people on here that are very good at hatching duck eggs, I imagine several with a Hovabator. I am not one of them. My experience is all with chicken eggs. The people with the experience you need may just not have seen your post. Many of us have other things to do and it is very possible your post just slipped by unseen. I don't know anyone on here that is paid to answer questions on this forum. We are all volunteers and sometimes volunteers don't show up. Overall I think we do a real good job answering questions, but sometimes things slip through.

You mentioned Hovabator, but you did not mention which model. That can make a difference, especially between still air and forced air. I'm guessing Hovabator makes still air models? I can talk with some confidence on the 1588 but my confidence drops off real fast with other models. That affects whether I can comfortably answer or not. If I don't know, sometimes I dont respond.

On this one, I'd suggest you start your own thread in the appropriate section with the information you consider pertinent. You might still not get your question in front of someone who knows, but you will probably do better.

Please do take this the wrong way, because you're acting with little class as well.

I am so happy you made a board to express your dissapointment with this forum. We couldn't imagine how we could pass up a question put in a very unnoticeable place, with- it seems- not enough information, because we are sharp-eyed individuals who can also read your mind well enough to know that there was even a question at the end of a rather old post (instead of it being a "oh good luck guys

" type of post/update on that person's hatch). I'm also impressed with how you dealt with the situation. Instead of simply making a new board with the question, or even a board that says "Well, my question was ignored and I'm a little upset", you used your "scathing" sarcasm out of frustration for something that was ultimately your fault anyway. I've had a question or two go unanswered on here before myself, but I did a very silly thing- put on my Big Girl pants and looked the question up elsewhere (like you) or asked again on a new board and didn't make a topic moaning about the low-quality "service". And when the other sweet members of BYC kindly reply (unlike myself), your post is still tinted with sarcasm.

Yes, I'm a fart (haven't been here long enough for the Niceness to rub off), but you're no bucket-of-sunshine yourself.
