A friend was supposed to incubate eggs for me, she backed out at the last minute ( not enough room)

So, of course the eggs i ordered came in and I ran to TSC and all I could get was the Hovabator Still Air Incubator. Now I have read a lot of comments saying this is not a good choice but this is what it is.....my question is can anyone give me any tips or advice. I am at this moment getting the temp regulated. Help!

I am doing my first hatch too with the Hovabator still air 1602N and also a Top Hatch. I got the hovabator and had someone else use it for me and no hatch and I discovered the thermometer was off so get a back up. That is about all I know so far. Best wishes.

I have had great hatches out of 1602N and after I bought brinsea and r-com, I used it as a hatcher along with genesis.
If you can have steady temp. for over 12 hours, you will be fine.
Put just a little bit of water in well.
Also, put a thermometer on top of the eggs and temp, has to be 102F.
Good luck!

i have a hova bator still 1620 n it was recommened to me....altho i did install a fan in it and it is holding temp steady and humidity steady have the automatic egg turner cos im a nervous wreck and didn't wanna chance missing a turn time....) I had it 2 days before i set my eggs and it warmed up perfectly had to do a few adjustments when i added the eggs but its back to hold steady for me Good LUCK!!! Let me know if this helps at all This is my first hatch sooooo

101 at the top of the eggs has been quoted for years for still air incubators. The last year or two a lot have been saying 102.

100 to 101 should hatch chicks fine. I think 102 is a bit high unless your house in in the 60s or colder.

Well then I think I would set the incubator at 102 when the room is 68 an it should drop to about 99 or 100 when the room temp drops to 62. Just watch the temp. If the room goes over 70 the incubator will probably climb over 103.
