Goodness hunker down, I'm sure you'll see your flock doing this, mine lay on their feet alot when it gets down into the 20's and sounds like you have done a good job giving them shelter. Now we all just wait out this crazy weather. Only thing is if your hay bale house isn't secure the preds may find your flock since food is going to be scarce.Braced for some real winter here in upstate NY. It is snowing like mad and we are expecting a couple of feet. The temps are in the single digits and with wind chills will be as much as 20 below for a couple of nights. I hope my hay bale house stays warm and dry. Fortunately the geese and ducks seem to be doing all their messing and pooping around the water tubs and the "nest" is bedded with a few feet of hay and still dry. I keep telling myself they are acclimated to the cold and have developed nice warm down jackets, but I still worry. Their poor little bare feet look so cold!
Oh my gosh, don't know what I'd do in that kind of weather, I'm sick of the cold here in Texas and ready for spring! I know, I know... The weather here is not bad at all but I just dispise cold cloudy days!
