Does this look like a girl? It's a five week old Plymouth Rock and wattles have just started coming in.

Thanks for the replies! Fort Worth, any reasons as to why you'd think so, or are you just being devil's advocate?

Wattles on a 5 week old that are turning pink to red would be a rooster.
A pullet wouldn't have any wattles started yet and wouldn't be pink at all.
So I'm going with rooster.
A better head picture would help in about 1 more week, showing the comb better.

I will withhold judgment another week or two. I would expect a bigger comb and wattles at this age for a roo, but I also would not expect any color yet. If you twist my arm, I'd say pullet right now, but let's see another picture in a week or two.

I have a "somewhat supportive Hubby"!!!! He likes to talk "chicken" with people now when they come over to buy chicks or eggs and it's a RIOT b/c the rest of the time he could care less!(LOL) But he's come a LOOONG way in almost a year..since we first got chickens! He's built me two coops and very happy with having fresh eggies in the fridge at all times! He's comin around!

Anyway, my "guess" is roo although I could be wrong! I'm going by the wattles already..but also the "Robert De Niro" beak!!!

Someone else o here said that girls "usually" have a short pointed beak and the boys "usually" have a longer curved beak. Not sure if it's true...but it held true for my last batch of chicks! Blessings!Keri
