How and who?

Hiya all! I'm new here and wondered if you could help me! I live in the UK and wondered who in my council I should contact on the concern weather or not I can own chickens in my back garden (it is a very large garden) Who should I contact in my council? Thanks!

I am sorry that I can be of no assistance in answering your question since I am from the states but hopefully someone else can help with that.
 
Not that I know very much about it either, but maybe find out where your local zoning official's office is or Town Hall and ask them. Make certain to tell them your address because, at least in the U.S., it makes a difference in whether or not you can have chickens & if you live in or out of the city limits, not to mention how many hens or roos you are allowed to keep. Hi . I live in the UK, and I asked around before I got mine. I had my son check it out finally and I was told I can keep chickens in my large garden, but not cockerels unless I apply for permission.

I think it is growth thing in the Uk especially with the recession starting to bite.
