just disappear?

There was one earlier that had some lively conversation going but nobody seemed to be losing their temper and now it is gone.

I've seen the threads that get locked, but why would one be removed completely? Just curious as to the mysterious workings behind BYC.

sometimes they are taken off the board for review. the mods or Nifty may be looking it over.

if something is removed, they ask that we do not question the mods/admin and do not restart the same discussion.

The mods have a way to move a thread behind the scenes for clean up or discussion amongst the mods. They can also return a thread to the main forum, so it may just re-appear.

Thanks Miss Jayne!

I wasn't questioning why it was removed, just curious as to why in general a thread might be removed. With the thread I have in mind I can see why they might not want to let it remain - particularly with minors on the forum.

Thanks for the answer! I had my cookie and now I'm over my boss using the "you might be right" saying on me. He's sure lucky he's out of town though!

Don't worry, Kodiak. Your question was perfectly fine... It's the "HEY MODS!!1111!!!!! Why did you guys remove my thread?!

" topics that get people into trouble.

Rooster-red and Miss_Jayne are both right.

By the way, we don't mind if you ask us what happened if we move or close one of your threads, but the conversation needs to take place in a PM, not in a thread on the regular forum. (Often, if a thread is moved or closed, the OP will receive a message explaining why). Sometimes threads are removed and don't ever get returned to the forum. It just depends on the situation.

In summary, this is just part of what we do to keep things nice and clean around here for you guys.

it didn't seem as if you were questioning at all. i agree with The Chicken Lady,
your post was courteous and not demanding at all. i just threw that info in so the thread didn't turn negative for your sake.

cookies fix oh so much!

Good question with good answers, have wondered the same thing myself. Just a observation after many years of life. "people rarely argue when they have a mouthful of cookies"

I've noticed that the mods have a sixth sense about when a thread is turning and tend to catch them just before or just after. We may not see the thread souring, but the mods are really good at spotting it. I also think that if one of us were to cross a line (either on purpose or accident) we'd get a pm letting us know.

Anytime something has gone on with a thread, people acting badly, questionable subject matter, whatever, I have always received a PM from the mods. ALWAYS! That cancels out the needs for the "HEY WHAT HAPPENED" threads.... The OP knows what happened.
