How annoying are peafowl sounds?

I've heard many people say peafowl sounds are super annoying and not to get them if you have close neighbors, is this true and when do they usually start calling ? Also what size pan do they need and how high should it be?

Spalding is much less noisy ... but it does not support cold winters!
