We bought some Standards a year or so ago, but were disappointed in the quality. We bought the reds and to me they appeared mixed or maybe just poor type. Maybe their quality is better in other colors. My younger daughter has two banties from them and they are very cute. They have great personalities too. They are not show quality, but we think they are pretty pets and sweet birds. My older daughter has a standard Cochin from a breeder and it looks very different from the ones we had from Ideal. We gave the pullets from Ideal away . I like their banties much better than the Standards I have seen from them. Now to be fair I have talked to some people who said they were pleased with their Ideal standard Cochins so it might be we just got some that were not as nice. They will not be as beautiful as a breeders birds if you are looking for quality breed type. If you just want them for pets and do not need show quality for 4H they have nice healthy birds that lay well for breeds that are known to be good layers. Most Cochins are not great layers, but are great pets.
