overall pretty good so far!!
WELL I THINK ONE OBSERVATION THAT CAN BE MADE HERE IS THAT THOSE EGGS THAT DIDN'T FREEZE ENOUGH TO CRACK ENDURED THE SEVERE COLD AND DID STILL DEVELOPE.THIS IS WHY I DON'T USE HEAT PACKS, I WOULD RATHER THE EGGS GET COLD AND SURVIVE THAN BEGIN DEVELOPING FROM HEAT PACK HEAT AND DIE...ANYONE HAVE THOUGHTS ON THIS, OF COURSE THESE ARE ONLY OPINIONS AND EVERYONE HAS THIER OWN.Recently, I received eggs and would have loved to have had a small heat pack or something in them. Some were frozen, and two had cracked. All were well packaged with bubble wrap and packaging and only sent from one state over. Right now only 5 have begun to develop and on the 15 day it looks like only about 3 will be well developed enough to hatch. I put 4 of my own eggs in the hatcher in there as controls. They are developing normally. There has got to be an answer somewhere for the shipping and wrapping problems. I have not read all the thread but lots of it. GJ
no where near as goodHOW IS YOUR HATCH PROGRESSING, ARE THE HATCH RATES SEEMING TO HOLD SO FAR.
M y biggest fear is the heat pack too close to the eggs, i know of buyers who recieved heat packed eggs that had started to develope and died. I guess its a crap shoot as to which way to go, but im glad that your eggs are doing great, glad the shipper individually bubble wrapped the eggs, that makes a huge diffrence.I've had eggs frozen in transit. The ones not cracked i put in to incubate but none developed. Next time I asked for a heat pack and 8 of 12 are going great. So during these really cold months, I'll take a heat pack! My shipper did good...all individually bubble wrapped and the heat pack wasn't directly on the eggs. There was a bunch of shredded paper and bubble wrap separating them.![]()
sorry you had bad luck with the marans, i have heard its best to dry incubate or incubate them at low humidity, supposedly the dark outer coating makes them lose moisture slower than other eggs.no where near as good

the marans are a wash. very disappointing and skewing the numbers
they would be 72 and 62% without them which is acceptable
I run 20%. They were just duds. It happens. I will let the supplier know though.sorry you had bad luck with the marans, i have heard its best to dry incubate or incubate them at low humidity, supposedly the dark outer coating makes them lose moisture slower than other eggs.
