How big a bag for 8 chicks -

Trying to figure out how much medicated start and grow I will need for 8 chicks for the first 7 weeks. This is what is recommended by the hatchery our chicks are coming from. Do I need a 25 lb bag or go with the 50 ? I have no idea what to expect ... Thanks !

I've always bought the small bag for the number of chicks you'll be getting, and when it runs out, they start getting regular all-flock feed, 20% protein. The entire flock eats it all the time. No layer feed in my flock to worry about the chicks getting into. The layers have their oyster shell.

I bought smaller 6 lb bag, I will be getting more soon. Within the first 2 weeks my 6 chicks ate about 2/3's of it. However they are little piggies and make a mess everywhere. I feel like they waste a lot of food!

And, I would not buy medicated, but start them right out on a 50# bag of multi-flock starter/grower (about 20 - 22% protein).
