How big does the coop need to be

The little one is probably too small I would go with the horse shed as everyone I know has added to the original flock.
 
As you can see from the replies you can make the smaller shed work. But that means more work and hours of your time. So ask yourself what is your time worth to you.
I would recommend using the larger horse shed. It may cost a bit more at start up but, in the long run you will be happy you did.

New Years morning you may want to sleep in a few extra hours.

Thank you everyone! I agree, the shed would probably be too small. I usually let my ducks out around 7:30 during the week, and about 8-9 on the weekends. I think if I ended up only getting 15 it would be okay, but 25 more is probably too much. The horse shelter has a covered run connected to it that my chickens use now, so I could just open one side up to the shelter. Well, I guess I better think about this some more.
