How big of a Brooder

How big of a brooder would need to be built for 25 chicks to be happy until they are 5 weeks or so... were in Florida so bring on the heat!!

I will add that I am going to use something that was once a whelping box for a dog, but then it was enclosed to be an Iguana cage, and now I am going to lay it back down and make it a brooder but it is very very heavy... It is 6' x 4' by 3' deep and it has a hardware top with one side that opens. and it's in my dining room..

That should be plenty big if you lay it down long ways. My brooder is 7'L X 2'W X 2'T split in half so I can move older chicks to one side when I hatch off a new batch. What I'm sayin is, I usually have 25-30 chicks hatch so the first hatch goes in under the heat light on one side then about 4weeks later I will hatch off 25-30 more & move the now 4week old chicks to the other side & put the new chicks in their place under the light. So basically, I have 25-30 chicks in a 3 1/2 foot X 2' X 2' area. Here are some pictures of my set-up.

thats big enough indeed

we always used 50-55 gallon rubbermaid tubs
but thats pleanty of room for a baby chick, and its plenty fancy

Awwwww Thank you, I guess it will be kind of fancy for what I am going to use it for but I think I will build something light weight in the future and I love Chicken-Crazy's design.

Are you able to keep them in that until they are ready to go outside with over crowding?
