I'm not AFG, but I know the answer. 4 SF per chicken inside the coop and 10 SF per chicken in the run. Hope that helps.

Of course I shell them. Unless it is their find. I don't give them very often. By dirty I mean laid on the poop board, pooped on. My dogs eat chicken poop regularly anyway, lol, but it isn't like I feed it to em. They like to eat dirt too. Dogs will be dogs.

My dog thinks turkey poop is the.best.thing.ever.

the rule is 4sq ft per chicken. but if they are gonna be inside a lot i suggest more

Here's a pic of a coop i built not too long ago. It's 6x8 with a 20x8 run. I put linoleum in the coop which makes it easier to clean. When it's time to clean out the coop, all I have to do is rake everything out into a wheelbarrow.
