How big of a coop do I need

How big of a coop do I need I have 34 chickens and how big should their lot be? I would like them to free range but fear the eagles living in the area will eat them.

The rule of thumb answer here is 4 X 34 = 136 sq ft for the coop, and 10 X 34 = 340 sq ft for the run. That would be about a 8 X 16 or 12 X 12 coop, and probably 10 X 34 run if it will be covered. But really, space is not that cut and dried an issue. There are other factors to consider, particularly climate, plus if they will never be free ranged, 10 sq ft may be skimpy.
