how big should hen house and coop run be

Am wondering how many chickens are ok for a hen house and run. Our hen house is 10 x 6 and coop run is 10 x 10, whole thing is 16. We have 3 nesting boxes. how many hens can we have. we have 4 hens now

You could easily fit 10 to 16.

You are blessed to have so much room.

Well for the inside 10x6=60 then divide that by 4 and you get 15 so that means you can fit 11 more hens into there lucky you lol

Not to hijack this thread but to find how many chickens you can have do you just take the amount of space in the coop and the run doesn't count for anything? Or could you add the area of each together and divide by a larger number?

You should have 4 sq feet per bird inside and 10 sq feet per bird in outside run, but if they get to free range alot the outside run space isnt as important
