How big should my coop be?

How large should my coop be for 4 chickens?
Probably bigger than you think.
The 4/10 rule of thumb cited above is not a bad place to start for a minimum.
But much depends on your climate and how weather/predator proof your run is.

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

My Little Monitor Coop is specifically designed to meet all the minimums for 4, standard-size hens.

4 square feet per bird, enough depth for Deep Bedding, nestboxes above bedding, roosts above nests, ventilation above the birds heads when they're sitting on the roost.

This is a for sure thing! I'm now thinking 7 birds.
I was gonna keep 6 in my 10x10. Now I have 11 plus 13 lavenders in a brooder and 4 ducks in a brooder, 42 eggs in one incubator and 8 turkey eggs and 12 chicken eggs in another. I have a bigger pen built just have to finish the hot wire before I take em its 2 hours away.
