My kids do that all the time. You just lay the chicken on it's back - balance it on one hand. Hold them in that position really still and they'll go into a trance-like state.

We call it 'putting her on the dinner plate'....LOL As in 'Look mom, she's ready for dinner", which is what they say when they do it.

And no, it doesn't hurt them at all. They'll just relax and go completely limp after a moment or two. Then you put them down and they just run off.

I always hypnotize my chickens.. It doesn't hurt them.. It calms then down .. and they normally go to sleep.(but they of corse wake up)

I'm just imagining trying to hold Nugget on his back long enough to put him in a trance and me coming out of it with all the hide on my arms, hands, chest, face, etc lol,, he's a big chicken and doesn't like to be handled!
