How can I discourage my rooster from walking into a 20'x20' cat enclosure w/out closeing the door?

Is there something that roosters avoid? When the rooster goes into the cage the cats run out! And the rooster is not litter-box trained so he poops everywhere!...LOL...It's hot outside so I put frozen water bottles in the cage for the cats and they come and go as they want. The rooster likes the ice bottles too but wont snuggle up to one OUTSIDE of the cage. I think he wants some company too....any suggestions out there???

Make door in the cat cage that the cats can get thru but the rooster cannot get thru.

You only have the one rooster...no other chickens?

Sounds like a strange situation, maybe more info would help other folks offer a viable solution.

Thanks aart!...and you are right...it is s DIFFERENT kind of situation....the rooster is alone no hens.....I thought about making some kind of small opening....I noticed the rooster doesnt go under thinnds like cats do.....I was hoping to avoid a BIG project and hoped there would be an object or color or scent that would repel the rooster!
