How can i get my chickens to let me pick them up.

I have an amerucana, red star and a buff orphington. How can I get them to like me better and let me pick them up.

Food. Feed them from your hands.Put some on your lap they will probably jump right up on you.Go slow.

I have been doing that. Is there anything else i can do.

Sometimes chickens just do not like to be picked up and held/handled no matter how you raise them. I've had a few that didn't mind and one that was exceptionally tame but the majority of them just really don't care for it.

When they start to squat before laying is how I would pick mine up and now they are so use to it they come over as to say "is it my turn".
