he has never flogged me but he has my mom, dad, and two of my cousins. He just chased me all the way from the chicken coop to the house! Why does he do this and how can i make him quit?

use the business end of the shovel for a little attitude adjustment to the head, that should stop him for..... like.... EVER !!!!. You can correct that behavior but My experience is not very often with good results. Good luck though.

he does it because he can...lots of different advice on this one...do a little searching you should find more suggestions than you could possible ever try..

point is he is showing his dominance...you can try showing him you are more dominate or....well that is what the research will help you find out

He does it because he's a rooster, and he's gotten away with it in the past. In order to stop this behavior even temporarily you must convince him that you are dominant. I'll let you pick the method. Al6517 told you how to stop it permanently. Good luck- running away only assures him that he is the boss.

I have a rooster who likes to peck at my hand. He's drawn blood twice. Last time I gave him a little smack on his comb and he hasn't done it since.

He was just protecting his girls. Has someone that he chases been a little bit mean to him or his harem?

It goes like this.

If you run. He'll chase you.
If you let him, he will.

We don't have many troubles with roosters, even my big RIR boys. They know I'm boss now. If he flogs you, turn around and give him a nudge. If he comes again, kick harder. You won't hurt him unless you really kick him hard. Also, pinning them to the ground (on their backs, even,) helps.

He's attacked all these people and he's still alive? I would say to kick the crap out of him, but I think it's too late. Eat him.

I have 2 that act as if they want to flogger me quite often, an RIR and an amber sex link! I stop dead in my tracks and allow them to continue reacting and will wait until they begin to walk away and then it's all over until the next time. I also try to catch them, hold them close for a while and give them kisses, rub their waddles and talk kindly to them which helps also. You must remain consistent with them or they'll get you sooner or later. By the way mine also understand the definetion to the word no and at times I must talk to them as if I am extremely angry and they will catch on! I'll say it 3 times and react as if I am becoming more upset if they don't retreat immediately and they normally do. I think free rangers think their stuff don't stink lol and you must understand that when they are given a territory for being pastured they will take pure advantage over anyone! If you don't want him to do this with you then my suggestion would be cage em' or work with him consistently! They sometimes need human interactions to remain nice. I'll sit on the porch with mine and usually end with a lap full of hens lol
