How can i make an automatic egg turner???

sorry i cant call u as i only have a mobile and live in england, i dont have much credit, could you give some advice on what i should search in ebay to find a good motor, thanks

I used a Peltec 102 relay timer, bought it from here,
http://www.peltectimers.com/site/timers.php But I don't know what your electricity voltages are over the sea. As far as motors for the trays, I looked on ebay,Do a search for electric gear motors, first that operates on your voltage, and then look at the final rpm.The slower the better,as you can always do as I did and connect the pulley off the motor to another shaft with a larger pulley, thus cutting down the speed more and giving more torque.
The little motor I bought only has about 1/5 horsepower, and the final shaft speed is only 6rpm,,it came with a 2" metal gear attached to the motor,,I took this gear off the shaft, bought a v-belt pulley about 2" in diameter,,then attached this to the motor,,then I bought a 7" v belt pulley, and about a 26" v-belt,,made a block-frame set up to attach motor, and pulleys apart, then took the old 2" metal gear that came with the motor, and attached it to the same shaft of the 7"v belt pulley, and welded an 2" long bolt to it,this is where the short connecting rod is attached, that hooks up to the long flat bar that is connected to all three turning trays,so they all move at once,up and down, and stay the same distance apart. Sorry about you being so far away,,but we can get this worked out, keep the questions coming. The 7" v-belt pulley continously rotates in a circle, the same direction all the time, but the trays only go up and down,,you will have to do some measuring to learn how much "throw" it will take to move the trays the desired amount, and this will also have to be checked as far as where the flat connecting rod is attached to your egg trays, and how far away from center it is put.It will be trial and error, but in my set up,I determined once the connecting flat stock was attached to all 3 trays, the total travel up and down was 4",that is how much the flat stock bar moved,to make the trays go from the top of travel to the bottom of travel, you then cut this distance in half,,so I knew I would need to put a bolt 2" from the center of the shaft,to get the total 4' of travel, this is where the short connecting rod is hooked to,it's hooked to the bolt welded on the 2" metal gear, and the other end attaches to the long flat bar.If you look at the pictures closely, you will see this short bar,and also the relay tomer is screwed down on the plywood, right in front of the electric motor,it's the white box, with wires coming out of both ends.

hi, the plug sockets give out 240 volts but as i use a pc powerpack this converts it to 12 volts so i have 2 options, is this any help at all? i am only 15 and i dont understand much about the motors and the pullys and the swapping things around, could you please try to give more detail and advice on what things to buy if i can find a link, also could you please search ebay.co.uk for a motor and try to find a suitable one? also does the power go through the relay into the motor and the relay acts as a switch??

only just read the update, i can seee the relay timer and is the short metal bar the thing that goes through the big circle thing and then through 2 pieces of wood? could you please explain what the bar actually does, if you have already sorry.

The timer item number you sent to me looks to only work during a 30 second set time period.Do you have pictures of your bator thus far? if you send me some pictures, I can then help you as to what to measure, and what needs to be added,to make similar to mine here. I'm no electricain, and had to call a few people to figure out exactly what I needed, and how to wire it all up.For that part, you may need to do the same, and the seller of the timer you have found, may be able to help,or direct you to other timers he has,or where to locate one for your needs. Send me pictures,or measurments of the inside of your bator now,and your progess.
If you know about car engines you will be more adapt to understanding the way my turner works, very similiar to a connecting rod in a car engine,I will e-mail u my e-mail address,if you want to send pictures and other info to me that way,,Randy

What are your inside measurements, from side to side, and from top to bottom? Do not measure all the way down to the floor, only to the top of the ledge,as that must be where the old compressor and motor was put under when still a fridge. I took the inside door plastic off,and put aliminum to cover, added about 4" to the size of my eggs trays. Have you looked at auro turners, used on hova bators? you may be able to install your old food racks and set those turners directly on the old fridge trays. If not,we can make new trays inside.Peel back the rubber strip around the door, and see what is used to hold this to the door, mine had metal screws about every 4's,that went thru the rubber strips and thru the plastic door liner.

is this what you meant - ebay number 170315456066 - i cant get the measurements today as it 9:25pm in england and i am my mums house but will try asap. i am on a tight budget as i have just bought a load of turkeys, but i do have accesss to quite a lot of wood if it is needed. when measuring top to bottom should i include the metal tray at the top or not?? why do i need to pull back the rubber liner, also there is nothing left of the fridge apartfrom what you can see as i disconected it all.
