How can i make an automatic egg turner???

Measure from the underside of the top metal shelf. If your not going to put a large number in this bator at once, then inside space is not an issue for you,but by removing the inside plastic tray on the door, this will alow the egg trays to be bigger, but it's not necessary if your only wanting to hatch 20 or so eggs at a time. My homemade bator will hold about 450 chicken eggs at a time with all 3 trays full.

hi the dimensions are:
top to bottom - 17inch
side to side ( not including the bit the original trays sit on) -17.5inch
side to side (including the bit the original trays sit on) - 17 inch
back to front (not including door space) - 17.5inch
back to front (including door space) - 20.5 inch

You might want to look at my BYC page. Similar idea to french black copper.s but a bit different.

Yes. But mine is geared down to 1/12 RPM.
This one is 40 RPM.
Even with with the gears one revolution takes around 45 mins. Which, although do-able is a bit much and I will be putting in a time switch to get the turning down to about 8 or 10 per day, mainly to give the little motor a rest.
I hasten to add that this one is untested as yet. I've had it running for a day and a night but have no idea how it's going to perform over 21+ days. I'm confident that it'll be fine if I put in the time switch though.

DC09,,Found this ad on E-bay here today that will fit inside your bator with a little room to spare, item number 110420644132 on the USA E-bay site. With your interior sides being made of plastic, it would seem to be easier to make try to adapt an auto turner inside yours. My old freezer interior walls are metal, and I was easily able to attach a board for my egg trays to pivot in.
If you use an auto turner like on the ebay link, your existing rack depression along your interior walls may be easily adapted. If an auto turner is out of the question for you,you will need to construct the entire rack frame that will slide inside your fridge, egg trays and all. We can help you I'm sure, between toxo and myself,do not get discouraged.

I'm not sure how the motors work in this type of turner. I suspect it's a reversible motor that's controlled electronically to go first one way and then the other.
I went with the 45 degree tray method because I will extend the rod that connects the trays so that it comes out through the top of the bator. If the motor fails, I can pull the rod up/down to manually turn the trays.
When I started to design my bator, I originally thought of putting the motor on the top to pick up the extended rod from there.

This was a concern I had but the amount of torque at the shaft is really quite good. The addition of the spur gears has increased it still more. Then, if you factor in the fact that all the trays are balanced so the weight isn't that great, I'm sure it will be ok. I'll let you know if it's not.
