I currently breed barred rocks. But I haven't had anyone want chicks, any ideas on how I could advertise to let people know I breed? I was thinking I could make little flyers and hang them up on telephone polls and stuff but I might get to much attention if I did that. So any ideas?

Thanks,

Have you tried craigslist? I would keep an ad up on there and also put flyers up at feed stores or any other related store or community places in your area. You can also post an ad in the for sale section of this site too.

I never even thought about putting it up on craigslist. But see, I'm also timid to put stuff up on craigslist because I have a small incubator that can only hatch 7 at a time, and if I get to many buyers I couldn't hatch for all of them. Do you think the majority of the people wanting chicks would only want around 6 chicks? What if they ask for 20 chicks? lol, then I'd be stumped!
Thanks,
Mitchell

I have purchased most of my hens via craigslist. Most ads I find say exactly how many chicks, pullets, birds etc they currently have and what breeds and ages. You can update your ad as your numbers change and take it down if you sell out.

Make sure that you are always safe and cautious when dealing with strangers on the internet and have your parents help.

Okay that makes sense. Well thanks for the help.

Have you tried selling hatching eggs? Lots of people down here prefer hatching the eggs themselves. I've always just sold eggs or adult poultry.

Hmm... thats an interesting idea Kevin. So the buyer would get them when they aren't even incubated yet?

In my area everyone seems to either have a incubator or a few broody hens. I was also surprised at the amount of people that have a incubator on hand.
