How can I receive email notification for new posts or PMs?

I'm sorry if this is not the right forum for this, but I can't find one where I can just ask for this kind of help.

On some boards, there is a User Control Panel where I can set it to email me when there is a reply in a thread I've posted in (a subscribed thread) or when I receive a PM. Is it possible to subscribe to particular threads on this board and to receive email notification?

yes, you can click on "subscribe to this topic" to subscribe to a thread. It is highlighted in blue at the bottom of the screen of that thread. It will show in "your recent posts" but Im not sure it will email you. I've never tried it. Maybe it will if you're email is linked to your byc account.

I receive emails from the posts that I subscribe to. But I too would like to find out if I can receive an email when I get a PM. Does anyone know?

We may add that in the future, but are worried it would cause a lot of excess emails.

We may build a script that simply notifies members every once in a while that they have unread messages waiting in their inboxes.

Just another quick idea, what about being able to make a PM new again after you have read it. Then maybe the box showing that you should check your messages could continue to show up.

Nifty, I am getting along quite well sending pictures through the PM section to other people who i am doing chicken deals with doewn here in MO. However, I do believe that i can fill someones PM box to capacity very quickly with the pictures I am sending.

I can also email people, but really, I do not want others to know my email address. Not that I am in the witness protection program, but I worry about spam and such. Nobody is as vigilant as I am when it come to protecting my email accounts. When I get an email, I want it to be from someone I know and for a reason.
