Just hatched out first batch and over the moon excited.
Second one had difficult hatch and has red marks on her feet (blood?) and can't walk. She always resorts to laying on her right side. I have a band aid brace on her now and dip her beak in water a few times a day and offer food. She is strong, but just can't walk. A couple questions:

1) the other chick sometimes snuggles with her and other times pecks at her (injured) foot. Should I keep them separated to put them together?

2) Anything more I can do for splay leg chick other than band aid brace? PT?

3) What is exact proper way to put on band aid brace?

My pictures are on my phone and I can't log in from my phone for some reason, so no photos for now.
Doesn't seem like band aid is helping. Chick lays on right side all day, except for when I make her drink and eat, and I exercise her. I also make her lay on her left side too to change things up in body. Any more suggestions anyone??

I've had a couple of chicks that presented like classic stroke or CP; they were full of heart, both, struggling like crazy, would always push one leg out way too far and flip over. I rehabilitated both of them successfully by just continually (I mean consistently for hours..) righting them and sometimes holding the outstretched leg in position or putting them against something so they couldn't push out.. it seemed like a proprioceptive issue. When I stayed at it consistently, they got to where they could either maintain or right themselves w/i a couple of days.

Anyhoo, I've got my first case of splay leg, and I'm anxious to try the bandaid trick. Looks like much less work on my part.
