How can I safely integrate a one day old chick with a one week old duckling and a two week old chick

I am a little confused about something though, the baby chick sometimes runs around crying as loud as it can until I pick her up and then she goes to sleep in my hand. Why does she do that? Is it normal? The other chick never seems to particularly want to be held even if he likes someone.
