My uncles cat is killing all of the * poor helpless birds*.
How can I stop him?
My uncles cat benji killed a turtle dove in my paddock today i am soo sad:hitHe has a collar on but keeps getting it off and my uncle doesn't do anything about it, the cat won't even come over too me he just sits there and growls:idunnonow I don't know why that is.
Anyway back to the point how can i stop him killing the birds?
Cause I am fed up of getting up in the morning and finding dead birds outside the door.
It would be fine if he just killed mice but he doesn't he kills all the birds:mad:.
Help please?

Only thing you can do is put a little bell on his collar the birds will hear it and take off.
I've known cats with 2 or 3 bells on their collar who have still managed to hunt silently.

You can't control a cat's hunting instinct. What you can do is change the environment. Make sure any water for the birds is too high for the cat. Ditto food stations & any nesting boxes. Provide thorny bushes for the birds to hide in. There are some scented plants cats dislike.
Um, should add keeping a cat in @ night helps. Birds are most vulnerable when they are roosting for the night.

Either keep it inside or get rid of the cat, there is no way you can stop it from killing birds. It's natural for them to kill what ever they can catch.

As someone who has barn cats, I understand your pain. Rodents are encouraged prey, but most wild birds are another story. :( Junk birds, (Starlings, Cowbirds, House Sparrows) however....they can have at it.

Sadly, there's little you can do to stop a cat from following its instincts. Prey drive is inherent. Felines don't share a dog's, "must please my owner" mindset, therefore it's difficult to train them.

You can't. To the cat, killing birds is the greatest fun ever. He isn't going to stop. In some areas cats have decimated the songbird populations.
