how can i stop racoons and opossums from coming close to my coop

The light outside the pen works good to, but i have to admit the best and cheapest way i have found to keep possumn and coons really any other night feeders is a radio in the pen,my hens love it to they lay to the music seems like and plus they dont hear every little noise at night, lol.

Sadly yesterday a badger snapped a young leghorn roo from my uncle's.... they forgot to coop him... I saw him with my eye running with it... so sad.... I searched everywhere in the bushes but in vain.... not even a feather was found... they have to be more careful....

My coop is within the perimeter of the underground fence for my blue heeler dog. She is very protective of the 'girls'. A live trap works well for maintenance work outside the perimeter. I keep one set in the woods nearby to snag critters that are wandering too close. I prefer not to ship problem animals onto others by relocating them, as they are immediately euthanized and disposed of.

Lol! Coins will learn quickly that the radio is a "scarecrow" and will learn to ignore it or in our case pick the radio up and drag it off to their den. True story! We just flowed the noise till we found our radio at the base of a hollow tree. :/

i had some coons or possums roaming even skunks until the radio started playing, havent seen any or any signs of them since,i turn it up allitle so i can hear it throught my yard and they love it,they listen to country all the time,no hard stuff if the radio doesnt work for you i hope you find a cheap easy fix.
