How can you tell a Cucoo Maran from a Barred Rock?

I have some Marans I got from a friend and Barred Rocks I have had for a long time and they look so much alike. How do I tell the difference?

Looking at pics on Feathersite, the only real difference I can see right off is the leg color. The Barred Rocks have bright yellow legs, while the Marans appear to have white legs.

Marans white legs and skin,
barred rock yellow with barred feathers (crisp pattern).

rocks have yellow legs and better barring, marans have white legs and blurry barring, very soft feathers. at least in the ones i've seen. i'm sure you could have really bad rocks and really good cucoos and it would be the opposite on the barring.

My maran is black and has orange on its beak. Looks like a crow.
