Ducks QUACK, drakes whisper/rasp. If you pick it up and it let's out a big heart quack you have yourself a duck. If you pick it up and it squeeks or peeps (after about 5 or 6 weeks) you have a drake.
Curled drake feathers don't come in until about 4 months or even later.
Here is an example of drake feathers. Hard to see because of the grass, but he has 2 curly-q feathers on his tail.
