going down in the teens here. As far as I'm conserned, once it drops below 20 it's all the same.

Amen! I'd run down to Florida - DH has our trip all planned, just waiting on me to say I'm ready - but I can't entrust my baby chicks to anyone.

Because that would be entirely too easy!

It's so cold out, I thought it was foggy until I realized I was standing in a cloud of my own respiration.

(It really is cold here right now. -9ºF and dropping.)

He's probably do a better job than the stepdaughter I have to leave in charge. At least Impy is around when it's getting dark and the hens need to be locked up.

I'd offer if I had time off from work.
Funny you'd say that. I've been on 2nd shift for a couple weeks. Came home Sunday, at 10pm, to find a possum in the coop helping itself to the layena. Chickens were not happy. So now I have a great friend and neighbor locking up the chickens at dark when I'm working. I think it's living under my garden shed next to the coop.

-28* windchills expected here tonight.

temp. now -3* and -12* low

but maybe...make it to the mid-40's next week.

It's so cold my weather guy friended me on facebook...wait, that really happened. I told you he likes it when I razz him on his blog during incliment weather blog times.

As a sorry southerner in the 2" of wet stuff that didn't even stick to the roads, I just can't imagine how one DOES prepare for -20, -40 type temperatures that doesn't involve a plane ticket to FLA.

SIMPLE.

Those sorry northerners FLY to the beaches of Old Mexico.....instead of Florida. (Hotel Rooms are cheaper there.)
