how come two chickens of the same breed can look so different?

    It all comes down to selective breeding. Breeders only keep birds with the best characteristics, and constantly cull out poor examples to keep making their birds look better and better. Hatcheries are interested in quantity not quality. [​IMG]

    As the other poster said-it's all about selective breeding. If you want the super fluffed out mega topnot silkies you have to look for a breeder who goes for thet [​IMG]

    The difference in apperance is due to a difference in quality.

    Yep, the looks differ from hatchery to hatchery and also breeder to breeder

    Yep, all selective breeding. I mean, we are all humans, and look how different other humans can look from different areas.
