Hi! Looking for help with these 2 little ones. About 6 weeks old now. They look like boys to me (?) They are 2 we hatched from a neighbors eggs. Don’t know what breed they are (neighbor has LOTS of chickens/roosters)…any ideas? And, we read about checking wings when they are a day old..and did that. These 2 had long and short feathers rotated…so we thought they would be females…and are not sure now. Maybe that just doesn’t work (?) Are they definitely boys-regardless of what breed they may be? A friend of mine wants roosters, not hens. And, I don’t want to give them up if they could still be girls. (1st 3 pics are one of the chicks, and the second 3 pics are the other chick. They look a lot alike)Thanks for any help.

They're boys. Possibly some type of Red Sex Link mix, but hard to know for sure without know what breeds your neighbor keeps.
Wing sexing is not accurate unless the chicks are bred for it.
Thanks so much. I knew there had to be a catch…lol. I will need to read about what that means…chicks being bred for wing sexing (?).

they can be bred to have a slow feathering dad and fast feathering mom, and if the slow feathering is on the boy gene, then only roosters will be slow feathering. most birds aren't bred to be determined by feather speed.
