So sorry for you.

It's definitely a tough day for you.

ps. I would dig a hole... as deep as you can and then pour lime on poor old Chester so he decomposes quickly and isn't dug up by the coyotes. It'll save you $250.

Im so sorry you had to go through that! I wouldnt guess the coyote scare either...but you never know. Maybe an underlying problem with his heart that was triggered by the scare or adrenaline rush.

It is hard to dig a hole in CT. Call around. You may get a vets to do it for less, or call a crematory yourself and see if they will do it. The hospital I was at used Trails End in Westbrook CT.

Contact the state vet office and ask if there is a place that does free necropsy on farm animals. Usually it is through a state university, extension office or state agriculture office. That way you could find out what happened and get rid of the body free at the same time.

Here is the contact info for CT:

No he wasn't old at all, only about a year old. We've had him since he was a baby.

We called the breeder, and friend, we got him from and they said to go to farms and see if they would burry him for us, plus it's good for their crops too. So I'll check into that tomorrow, we put him in a bag and put him in our truck, hopefully his sent won't attract more coyotes. I would leave our cattle dog out loose at night, but the road near our house is just so busy and I would hate to loose her too, so I guess it'll be a long night here.
