Bowl of eggs from this week.
White one in the middle is for comparison, pure white from store.
Smaller off-white ones are from my Golden Penciled Hamburgs.
All the brown ones are from Peaches and Cream.
They appear darker at the edges than I think the overall color is, but this is very close to true color.

They are not the correct colour for either Golden Cuckoo or Golden Salmon Marans. The tail is also totally wrong and the eggs would not qualify as Marans eggs.
I think you have a couple of very pretty crossbred fowl

Well, I think they are awfully pretty! Thanks for the photos! I wanted to see them because I was thinking of getting hatching eggs from None Such Farm this spring.

Interesting. Can you give me links to pics of birds that you believe to be Golden Cuckoo Marans?
Not sure if the evening light makes them look too dark, etc. and would like to understand what you are seeing.

I've yet to see Golden Cuckoo Maran eggs that are very dark.

My girls are not for breeding, just for eggs and fun. But I would like to understand the breed as best I can.
thanks for your input.

Pretty birds Birch Run!!!
I guess mine don't win any awards, at least not in their pics I posted, but they do look like the GCMs you have posted. I did hatch out cockerels as well and had to find them all homes. They looked just like that as well.
I'd love to see your silvers and do you have pics of the GCM eggs?
would love to see them
thanks so much for posting your gorgeous GCMs

They were terrific to deal with. My birds are very young and have just started laying. I suppose you know already, but you can see pics of her birds and eggs at http://nonesuchfarm.net/poultry.html

And the avatar to the left is one of the little cockerels when he hatched.

The darkest eggs are from my silver cuckoos. The light ones, marked GC are from, well, Melissa's GC hatching eggs. Not as dark as the silvers at all and a different tone of brown. I like the plumage color and will be using the GC cockerel on all of my cuckoos. My one and only GC pullet has not started laying yet.

Another egg pic, my silver cuckoos layed fairly dark eggs their first season. Waiting for them to start up again.
