I have 2 girls, a buff Orp and a black Cochin. Both are now laying. My buff's eggs are a pale tan and slightly rounded. My cochin, who just started laying in the last couple weeks, lays a darker egg that's slightly pointy on one end. This morning I went out there to find an egg that looks like a mix between the two and it's VERY darkly speckled. Are either of these breeds known for this?

I was curious so I did a search and this was the best answer I found:

"It's just the same pigment that colors your eggs normally, but sometimes it gets deposited in spots or speckles. I don't know why, but it nothing to worry about, it's perfectly normal to get some speckled eggs. Some hens have speckled eggs more frequently than others."
