How did this happen?

So far we have not "mysteriously" had 100+ chickens, but we will be hatching this Summer...HELP!

But during Fall, we said that we would NOT buy/hatch ANY more chicks until Spring or Summer! But when we went to a local chicken trade thing, we saw two very young buff colored chicks in a cage with some older ones. They were way too young to be outside when it was that chilly. Sooo.....Yep, we're are guilty. We just had to have them!

But we do have an excuse besides "they were sooo cute!". We had to get them because they would have died if we hadn't. The past owner of them said so! Ha! we aren't really guilty after all.

I'm guessing that soon we will also be staring at a brooder box full of chicks thinking....."How did this happen?" in confusion, yet we will most likely we happy about it! LOL

I often wonder the same thing!! lol

Don't know how this happened? We started with 9 and now we're up to 45 birds. I also have 5 eggs in the bator, and another 16 waiting to go in. LOL

I started in Aug with two seabright roos. I know you will all hate this but someone brought them to lure in a cougar, live bait...

but i feel in love with them so we had to build a coop and run...then get them some friends.

We now have two coops and a third one starting soon, 45 girls outside, 23 in the garage bator, 18 in my laundry room, 35 comming from cackle on the 3rd, 20 more on hold at TSC for the 6th and 4 turkeys...plus i get my bator in April (yeah for a tax return

) I often ask myself how this happened...well, at least chickens are less expensive then Steve Madden Shoes every week...see-justified!

Yep i'm really scared. Was talking to my mom this week and she informed me that my dad has a bator at the farm that's been collecting dust for a long time. Is this the second major symptom? I told her i would take it. LOL. OK I'm going to the Dr. tomorrow to get the cure for this wonderful disease. Wish me luck

My kiddos have had chickens for several years for 4-H but because we lived in the city, they had to stay at Great-grandma's house. Now that we're moving outside of town as soon as school lets out, we're having a population explosion. First there was the 11 chickens kept from last year's fair. Then it was the 15 I ordered from Ideal, oh wait, a few days later they called to tell me that the feathered legged marans would be available and I saw the red crested red polish, so that order went up to 27!!!

The ducks from MM came in but hey, only 3 were ours!! Then I hatched out 5 babies, 5 hens have gone broody( 1 hatched out 8 and another hatched out 4, others pending), and I got 8 more eggs to put in the incubator!!!

Today 8 more baby duckies made their way here from Ideal along with (gulp) 14 packing peanuts ( I think they're either production reds or RIRs). In another week and a half another order is coming from MM with the kiddos show chickies and my EEs, a total of 29 more chickies!!!

Heck, how many am I up to now? I don't think I want to know.

Then, I'd really like some of those splash bantam cochins from Cackle but I have to order 15 total, which is very easy to do!!

oh, don't let me forget we already had 4 ducks and 5 guineas. Plus, I'm supposed to get more guineas when they're available!!!

I went grocery shopping while hubby went to the feed store so I would not be tempted if they had chicks.....

Did not work. The owner knows of my chicken obsession, and told him he better tell me.

I ended up with 5 RIR and 9 Buff orps to add to the ones in my sig line.

I have so far successfully avoided TSC since I learned they were getting chicks, ducks and bunnies in on March 15th. BUT.....I have to go get feed this weekend to prepare for my incoming order next week...... I'm a goner!
