Yea, we're pushing 150+, not counting the turkeys, pheasants and peacocks. Hope that all of the people who said they'll buy eggs actually will buy eggs.:|

I know how you feel. I was raised in the city and when my husband and I met it really showed till about 8 years ago. We bought a three acre farm and between my husband,daughters and brother in law they finally talk me into chickens.
Now we have 100 chickens, two pigs, 5 turkeys, and 2 beef steers. I sell the eggs and other homemade products and treat the animals like my kids.
I ask myself the same question how did this happen?

I am just in awe of how this happened. My DH and I raise pigs and cows and breed them as well for meat. And I also raise meat birds as well as layers.

I can't tell you the last time I actually bought meat or eggs at a store. He just put in a garden the size of a basketball court and we will be enjoying that this summer as well.

I am glad that I am not the only one to get addicted.......................

addicted it's becoming a way of life!!Every news show that you tune into is talking about going green. We've known it all along other's are just catching up.

I stopped at CO-OP one day to get something and there were 3 tiny bantams in a cage for sale. I didn't have chickens, a coop or a pen. As one possessed by the bird devil i bought said babys and when i got home had no where to put them.
We built a coop and pen , well you know we needed eggs so, we got 5 laying hens . The hens wanted a man so we looked for a rooster and there were 4 white leghorns for sale also and who can live without dominique bantams? Now we have over 50 birds and there isn't an end in sight so, don't think you can just stop any time you want to.
