How did you kill your chicken?

I think lots of people have killed their chickens accidentally. I read a story about how one person slammed their car door on their chicken's head. I saw that another person threw a rock and killed their rooster.

Maybe if we share our stories, it will help us all feel better about the mistakes we've made!

I'll go first. This morning I gave a penicillin injection to my chick. He has a respiratory disease and I was sure I was doing the right thing. When I put him back in the brooder, he flopped around for a few seconds, and then died. Must've hit a vein or vital organ. I feel awful.

We have a manual pop door. My husband was shutting our pullets in for the night when the rope slipped out of his hand just as our Australorp pullet stuck her head out

Needless to say, we are really careful now when opening & closing the pop door.
