How did your flock annoy you today?

Pics
Today doing my routine egg check around my hedge I heard chicks peeping. I ran inside for a flashlight and found Shirley who keeps disappearing sitting 3 feet high and 1.5 to 2 feet deep INSIDE the hedge with at least 2 hatched babies and more eggs under her but she is in a spot I can't reach her safely so yay. I can sort of lift up part of her (with my welding gloves on she is mean!) But the chicks are hiding in her wings and such so I can't truly grab her and yank her out without hurting some babies or having her kick out at the eggs under her and send them flying.
That is a surprisingly well made nest, considering the location!😎
How ANNOYING!:th
I hope you can safely extract the mama and chickies….
Good luck!

She stopped roosting in the coop over a month and a half ago and I truly thought she was gone after the pack of coyotes came through one night and had a party out front that was super loud. She still lives but now has babies and I have no clue how many or how far apart they are. Bantam Cochins everyone. The sneakiest of our flock. Fun fact her sister Laverne is actually broody but IN a nesting box. Ugh:barnie:he

Laverne sounds like her Happy Meal has a few more fries than Shirley’s…
🤣🤣🤣
I’m so glad she’s still alive.
That has been a dream of mine, that a missing hen would come waltzing back home a month later, with a little batch of puffy chickies following her!🥰🥰

I honestly only found her because I heard chick peeps and was like Huh? I still didn't see her until I half crawled into the hedge with a flashlight. I am happy she didn't get taken by the coyotes but now I am nervous she will tonight because of their peeping. The best part is after my husband said no to "Buying" more chickens he was super happy she survived and had babies too. He is all smiles about it right now.

I’ll keep those in mind for my Broody Pen.
I want to set up a pen with removable nesting boxes, tempting material, and numerous ceramic eggs.
Then I’ll fill the pen with “Broody Breeds”, and hope something great happens.
Bantam Cochins… thanks!😊
Want some of mine? They're exhausting.:th

Both Laverne and Shirley are about 6 months old and Broody. I definitely recommend Bantam Cochins for broodiness! My Batam Cochin Rooster is the best ever too. Such a gentleman and he doesn't bother me at all. Honestly if I didn't like my egg colors and sizes from my other breeds I would only have Cochins.

What do you like best about them? Just the broodiness? Or the feather feet? So many people say it's their favorite breed, but mine act like such brats. Very cute brats.
Everything. Mine are super sweet, much easier personality compared to the others. My Rooster has shown 0 human aggression which is a must because kids. First friendly rooster I have ever encountered is Casper the White Bantam Cochin. Much quieter then everyone else too. Also I love how fluffy and soft they are. The waddle definitely helps making them so adorable when they run. Sneaky and good at foraging. Smaller and able to hide when free ranging which is a must and they do so awesomely. Really my only complaint is the foot feathers can get gross in the rain and they can't help that. I will have to update you once these babies grow and see if they keep the same shy but sweet demeanor of the Mom or if they become terrors. But overall my Cochins are much nicer than most of the black sexlinks, EEs, barred rocks, RIRs, ISA Browns, D'uccle, and silkies. I definitely will only have cochins for bantams from now on.
