How did your flock annoy you today?

Just something funny. My husband thinks my Lavender Orpingtons are creepy. He thinks they look dead and such, well now I'm pretty sure I now want more for .... Reasons.
I won't lie... I don't love the look either. The lavender color is a bit sickly. They certainly don't have that warm, Golden Retriever look that the buffs do.

Probably doesn't help that I think these 2 have the shredder gene. I wanted some Orpington but the Lavender was all TSC had at the time so I went with it. I am just mean though and want more just to freak out my poor husband. :lau They are super shy but will follow me around which just freaks out the husband more because they are obviously plotting something lol.

Ah, yes, Orps have perfected the innocent expression! 😇

That poor man will almost run away from my Lavenders. They really creep him out. They have that innocent look which just makes it worse. Honestly when they run up to me he flinches. It probably doesn't help that I have only 2 and 1 is a pullet while the other is a cockeral. He is not a fan of big roosters. My Bantams he likes just because they are tiny but the big guys he prefers to become soup or stew.

My husband collected a bunch of crickets from around the property and put them in a bucket for the bantams. I then dumped the bucket of crickets into their sand box (to make it easier for them to hunt). Maybe 2 out of 12 were actually eaten. Clover was more interested in a piece of mulch, Poppy was afraid of the crickets, and Hornet must have had her fill. Actually, scratch that. Poppy became interested in one cricket, but it slightly buried itself in the sand, and she had no idea what to do.

I refuse to feel bad about not free ranging these chickens because they would stink at it.

They won’t leave my poor tomato plants alone 😭
I’m building a fence tomorrow to protect my garden. Those heifers looked entirely too comfortable on my raised beds after digging up my d*mn carrots. 🤣🤣🤣 Just look at em. 🤣
