How did your flock annoy you today?

They could be at that "everything is scary" age
Yeah, they’ve been in this phase for six months 😒. Just a bunch of nervous nellies. Though they’ll stalk and eat giant cicadas and moths, so I have no clue what goes through their heads! Thought crickets would be a home run.

They probably waited until you walked away to go after them, because why would they want you to know that they actually do appreciate the treats you give them? 🙄🤣

THIS IS SUCH A THING! Ugh, why? Treat time is either “ignore, then eat offscreen” or so anxiety ridden that their noises sound like the screams of the damned. Very rare to hit that peaceful acceptance.

I won't lie... I don't love the look either. The lavender color is a bit sickly. They certainly don't have that warm, Golden Retriever look that the buffs do.
Not trying to make you jealous but look at my Lavender Orpingtons. It’s the same 2 birds. They’re sisters. Wait maybe they do look a bit sickly. I’m torn now. It’s too early and I’m too hungry. 😂 IMG_1978.jpeg IMG_1925.jpeg

This is my new favorite thread.

I’ve made a list of my day…

1- chase Nugget off the deck. Clean the giant cecal poop strategically placed in front of doggy door. NICE TRY, NUGGET!

2- inventory all birds after a suspected hawk fly over/attack. Missing the 4 freshly weaned, highly vulnerable chicks, have a mini freak out. Find chicks hiding (trapped?) in shed with closed door. No clue how they got in there.

3- respond to another rooster alert, but it’s just Lenore, who every day after laying her egg races back to the flock screaming bloody murder “ya’ll are NOT gonna believe what just happened to me in there!”

4- Chase Ellis out of garden.

4- bathe Beastie because she got into the fly trap while I was changing it out and got gross dead fly/poop water/who knows what else spilled on her.

5- scrub egg from nest box floor because someone moved the mat over 1” and that’s where the broken egg ended up.

6- remove Gabriel from roosting on the run pop door so other chickens can come and go (8 hen pile up at the door- so much complaining).

6- Chase Ellis back into the yard.

7- rescue pullets from behind the fence where they get trapped at least twice a day.

That’s just so far… the day is still young.
What is the reason for this? lol One of my copper marans named Beth does this!

What a fun thread! Makes you wonder why we all keep chickens. 😂 For the love of course!

All of your flock stories will have me giggling the rest of the day. :gig

Don't you just love your Styrofoam eaters?! :barnie

What is up with that? How much is going to kill them? Am I going to die first crawling on my hands and knees in my backyard chasing pieces smaller than I should be chasing? Why are they determined to dance with death in the form of styrofoam? But seriously how much does it take to kill them? 🤣🤣🤣

I think it would take quite a bit. Not something I'm willing to test, though!
