How did your flock annoy you today?

Nice to know. One hen, Nubia an Australorp , in particular let’s us pick her up freely. She’s never seen fighting. Honestly she just breezes around the yard. I think she’s the head hen. Seriously no one challenges her. I think #2 is our Brahma Sweet Baby. She is seen bothering other chickens not the other way around. Her name should have been Big Baby or Mean Baby or even that Heifer. 🤣
Love it

When my girls were all still chicks, the cream leg bar had a bad habit of jumping onto my back or head whenever she could. That stopped when she got bigger. But yesterday I went out to fill their feeder, and I suddenly felt a bird land on my back. I turned around and Peg was staring at me from my back with her little bouffant bobbing, clearly tickled with herself.

Do this isn’t an annoyance thing. This is an amazement happy thing. So sweet Buffy who swore off people after the tail incident let my friend’s daughter pick her up! It’s the first time since May/June/July that she’s willingly let anyone pick her up. I’m so happy. I hope this is the sign of a new direction. IMG_2264.jpeg IMG_2270.jpeg

I have 11 that are DAYS away from transitioning outside full time and theyre driving me nuts in the brooder 😂 its supposed to snow on Tuesday so theyre going out Wednesday when it gets a little more mild 😂😂 and even Wednesday is like 3 full weeks earlier than I originally planned haha

Every two weeks I get 3 eggs kicked out of the laying boxes and then buried in the deep litter (that honestly isn't deep enough yet, so I can still find the eggs) which I am trying to start in preparation for winter. I think they've caught on that wet and dirty eggs get smashed and they get to eat them because at that point bacteria must've gotten into the egg...
