How do EXPERIENCED hatchers live thru an incubation?! Temp issues NOW!

incubation gets easier the more you do it. Even though i love to hatch eggs after a while it becomes a chore. Remembering to turn eggs every 8 hours can become a pain. As far a those $9.00 wal-mart thermometers they aint worth a plug nickel. the last two i got were off by as much as 4 degrees and in a incubator 4 degrees can mean the difference between hatching and rotten eggs. I would trust the mercury therm. as far as liner if i remember i put down the soft spongy shelf liner, it is soft and has holes to let hot moist air through the wire but i also just let them hatch on the wire too so you can do either.

Yay!! I'm so glad they're hatching!

Are the ones on the right closer to the light? My eggs that were closer to the light hatched first, probably because they were warmer during lockdown (even though I have a fan in there). The other ones still hatched though - be patient.

I had one from each side that didn't hatch. My first one hatched Thursday evening (day 20) and the last one hatched late Saturday (actually - 2 am Sunday). I ended up helping the last one because I didn't think it would ever make it out (the only one I helped).

OK I dont feel so stupid. I have a hatch in my incubator that was supposed to hatch yesterday. Day 22 began today at 4:00 pm. I have NO pips. I see rocking in 1 maybe 2 eggs, but thats it. Its a miracle I pulled myself away from them long enough to get on the computer. The temp has been pretty stable, I have them in a LG with the glass thermometer on top reading 99-101. I also have one of those walmart digital things in the corner on the bottom, it reads 100 with 45 humidity. I have the pans full and sponges in there as well. I am so nervous, this is my firswt hatch as well although my friend who has been doing this has helped me. It is so nerve racking I can hardly stand myself. Please say a little prayer, I hope I can get at least one egg to hatch.

you will have to tell me about the one you helped. I have one that is zipped, but it has been rolled around by the other chicks and isn't able to get out. It looks like the membrane is dry. I have dripped water on it twice. Each time it looks like things loosen up, but it still isn't out. Should I help it? I don't have any idea how to do that. Tell me what you did.

RoRoinGA Glad I could make you feel better
